*Thanks for the lovely birthday messagages! :D Also 24 followers!!!!!! YAY
Work was interesting today, after taking Friday off I had lots to catch up on, so I got to work very, very early.
“Good morning Paris, you here very early.” Minnie said as she walked in to her office and dumped the hundreds of pieces of paper she had, and walked back out to chat to me.
“I thought I should be after taking Friday off.” I smiled.
“Oh yes, and how is your gorgeous new nephew?” She asked.
“His beautiful, seriously I’m in love with him.” I said.
“I would love to see some pictures soon.” She winked as she walked into her office. I had heaps of photos of him, but Grace and Simon had yet to choose a name, she was leaving the hospital today so they had to come with something, I think they might name him Harrison, which I love! Oh well guess we’ll soon find out.
The rest of the morning I was very productive, Brett and I made awkward small talk while he was waiting for a meeting with Minnie. We hadn’t really spoken since the night he stayed late and I think he knew that Nathan wasn’t exactly comfortable with us being friends, I know that I told Nathan I would still be friends with Brett but it didn’t really feel right, not after our fight which we still haven’t really talked about. Zoe came in about an hour late looking terrible, she had a hangover and looked like she was about to vomit.
“Zoe what’s going on?” I asked her when we were out to lunch.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
“Well you have a hangover and it’s a Monday, how are you dealing with your breakup?” I asked.
Zoe sighed before speaking, “I saw him yesterday...hence the massive Monday morning hangover.”
“I knew it, Zoe. Where did you see him?” I asked.
“At my apartment...” She sighed.
“Did you have break up sex?” I asked my tone light but I knew the answer I would get.
“Yes, not just once either...” She whined. “I don’t know what I’m doing Paris, I break up him and he calls me and then we have sex, seriously it’s like where in the exact same position we were before we broke up its just there is no commitment.”
“Zoe you have to work out what you want from him.” I said.
“I know, I know it’s not a smart idea to keep going the way we are.” She said miserably.
Suddenly we became aware of a dark shadow standing at the end of the table, it was Brett.
“Hey Brett.” I said attempting to be friendly.
“Hey Paris, Zoe.” He smiled.
“Sorry to interrupt your lunch but can I have a chat to you Paris?” He asked carefully.
I hesitated but Zoe interrupted, “I have to go back to work anyway, I’ll see you both there.”
Brett sat down filling Zoe’s place.
“So what have you been up to?” I asked.
“Paris, why have you been avoiding me?” He asked directly.
“...I haven’t. Ok that’s a lie, I have. I am going to be completely honest with you, Nathan wasn’t exactly impressed with our behaviour at the dinner party, so I thought best to give us some space.”
“I knew he wouldn’t like me after that night...” Brett said a little mysteriously.
“Why?” I asked.
“Well we were flirting like mad, look Paris anyone can see there is something between us.” He said looking at me directly in the eyes.
“Brett, no. Let me make this perfectly clear, I love Nathan, he is the only person I want to be with, I’m sorry if I gave you the wrong idea it wasn’t my intention at all.
“I think you need to open your eyes Paris, I can’t see you and Nathan lasting much longer, don’t you realise what a fantasy this is? Dating a famous football player, who you have described sweet and funny and gets along with your friends, his playing you Paris and you’re just too infatuated to see it. Soon you’ll see, and hopefully you haven’t left it to long for us to be something.” He said with confidence that made me want to slap his across the head and throw my drink on him.
“You don’t know the first thing about Nathan, and honestly even if we need break up, there is no chance of you and I being anything more than colleagues, I would appreciate if we didn’t speak unless work related.” I said as I snatched my hand bag from the chair next to me and walked out without a second glance at Brett.
I knew Brett’s type, hell I’d written articles about Brett’s type. He was the kind of guy that thought of every girl as a challenge, and if he hadn’t hooked up with her he’d lost the game. He was the guy that went after girls with boyfriends to make his life a little more interesting, I just wish I had figured it out sooner...

Interesting Offers
“Babe, babe wake up your alarm is blaring.” I heard Nathan say as I was slowly coming out of the best sleep I’ve had in forever.
“Hmm sorry, morning.” I turned around and hugged him.
“Last night was...amazing.” I said smiling at him.
“Last night was definitely amazing.”He said kissing my forehead. We were silent for a while before he asked, “Babe I forgot to ask you, did you want to come to this barbeque with the team and their wives and girlfriends and stuff on Saturday?”
I hesitated for a second, I had seen some of these girls in magazines and on TV and if Katie was anything to go by I was nervous, but I thought I owed Nathan at least a barbeque. “Sure...there not like all...crazy are they?” I asked, slightly terrified.
He chuckled softly before responding, “No of course not, there are some really nice girls around...and then there are so bitchy ones. But I’ll take care of you.”
“Hmmm, I’m scared. Any bet they will all be drop dead gorgeous.” I said.
“Not as gorgeous as you, seriously you don’t see it do you?”
“What?” I asked.
“How freakin’ unbelievably sexy and beautiful you are.”
“Shut-up you’re such a loser.” I said hitting him playfully; he shook his head at me, like he couldn’t believe I didn’t see it.
“So Saturday?” I asked.
“Yeah. It’s at Richard Vermont’s house, just near darling harbour.” He said.
“Really, well it’s quite an interesting bunch of friends you have Nate, seriously football superstars who live in the most expensive suburb in Australia.” I joked.
“Uh yes, I do roll with the rich and famous but really I am just a lonely boy looking for somebody to love me.” He said lightly.
“Do you think I could be that somebody.” My tone dramatic.
“You already are miss Paris Lorre.” He said as he kissed me nose and I smiled at him.
“So should I bring anything? How do your people barbeques work?” I asked.
“Well we tend to all look ridiculously good, invite paparazzi, do interviews, have a threesome with your mate’s wife and her friend, you know the usual.” He joked.
“Haha, so funny Mr. Luken. How am I supposed to know what goes on?”
“Their normal people Paris just like me and you. Will sit down and chat and have a couple of drinks, etc.” He explained.
“Ooook, thankyou my darling boyfriend. But I better go, I do actually have to go to work today, when do you have practice next?” I asked.
“Have a practice at 2pm today; we never have afternoon practices it’s really weird.”
“Well I should be letting you sleep in.” I said as I attempted to get out of bed.
“No, come on just be a little late, your my little hot water bottle.” He said as he
playfully pulled me back under the covers.
“Well I would love to, but seeing as your ex-girlfriend spat on me and told everyone that we were having sex while you guys were together, I need to try not to fuck up again, at least for a little while.” I laughed, Nate didn’t, I realised that this was still pretty fresh for him.
“I’m sorry Nate I shouldn’t have said that. But it’s not your fault, it was sucks but it’s over and I’m the one that gets to snuggle up to you at night.” I said smiling.
“I just hate that she did that, seriously Paris you didn’t deserve it. She should be taking it out on me if anyone.”He said.
“This is officially not an issue anymore, I’m tired of complaining about it, it happened it sucked, and it’s over.” I said finally.
“Ok we’re done talking about.” Nate said finally.

“PARIS, come in here please?” Minnie yelled from her office, despite the fact we have phones to contact one and other she insists on bellowing.
I walked into her office, “Hi Minnie, what can I do for you?” I asked politely.
“Paris, I’ve just had an interesting off for you.” She relied mysteriously.
“Oh really and what’s that?”
“Well I’ve just had a call from our sister magazine in Paris, they were wondering if we wanted to send anyone over to Paris, like an internship.” She said.
“Oh ok. That’s nice of them.” I replied.
“Paris, I want to send you.” Minnie said.
“You want to send me to Paris? As in Paris, France?” I replied shocked.
“Yes, I’m trying to persuade you to go to Paris.”She answered.
“Me?” I replied dumbly.
“Yes, Paris it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. Where not asking you to go forever,
I’m only asking you to go for a few months. You don’t have to say yes right now, the option will there until the end of the year, but I would prefer you to go sooner rather than later before your promotion starts.”She explained.
Immediately I thought of Nathan, and I silently scolded myself. I promised myself that I would never answer to a boy, and here I was being offered the chance to go to Paris and all I can think about is waking up to next to Nathan exactly like this morning.

Accountant
Minnie called me into her office today, I thought it might have been about the interview with Katie, everything was organised for it, we had some sample clothes and the accessories. I did love organising the interview even if it was for my boyfriends ex.
“Good morning Paris. How’d everything go organising the interview?” Minnie asked.
“Everything is organised. We booked the location and the clothes and everything.” I answered, handing over the relevant paper work.
“Good work, it looks like you have everything handled; I have to ask one more favour though.”
“No worries, what do you need?” I asked.
“We have a new accountant coming on staff, because the big boss thinks we aren’t being careful enough with our budget. Blah, blah. Anyway this guy is new from Melbourne, so would you mind showing him around the office, and show him the area around the office today?” She asked.
“Yeah no worries, I would love to. Did you say he?” I asked wondering how a guy was going to fit into such a female dominated work place.
“I did, big boss also thought we needed to incorporate a male opinion into the magazine. Obviously that doesn’t make sense, seeing as we are a woman’s magazine.”
She sounded exasperated, like she had said the same thing multiple times.
I smiled, “well don’t worry about it; I’ll take care of him!”
Then I heard a knock on her office, I spun around and saw him. He was a plate of mouth watering, deliciousness, he looked exactly like Brad Pitt (Not Brad Pitt now, but back when he was in Troy), he had longish sandy blonde hair and was oh so beautiful. I’m probably not describing him to well...but goodness me.
“Hello Brett, come in.” Minnie said, she gave me a quick I know his hot but please keep it together look. “This is Paris; she will be your tour guide today.” He smiled at me and extended his hand; I took it and smiled my biggest smile.
“Hey Brett I’ll show you around the office, let you meet everyone.” I said.
“Thanks heaps.” He smiled, and my knees went weak.
I showed him around, and introduced him to all the girls in the office, they all went stupid, laughing loudly and going bright red. It was great, but I’m pretty sure I had the same reaction when he even looked in my direction. We decided to go out for lunch, I invited Zoe, she said she’d try to get there but she wasn’t sure.
“This place is really yummy; any of the stir fry’s are good!” I said to Brett, we were sitting at me and Zoe’s favourite Chinese place.
“Thanks heaps for today Paris, seriously I know you probably had better things to do but I really appreciate it.” He said.
“No worries, seriously I had fun anyway. I think you’ll fit in here, surprisingly.” I said smiling.
“Why is it surprising?” He asked curiously.
“I mean we don’t have any guys working at the magazine. We are all girls, and get along pretty well, so it’ll be good to have a change.” I said grinning stupidly big.
“You have a beautiful smile.” He said, “Is there any way you would go out with me, you know after work hours.”
“Uh, I don’t think my boyfriend would like that too much.” I said trying to make light of the potential awkwardness.
“Ah, I’m sure he wouldn’t.” He said laughing.
“I’m sorry...but we could be friends.” I said.
“Friends it is.” He said amused.
We had a nice lunch talking about the office and the gossip and who to avoid (Hally). Despite the awkward moment, I really think that I have a new friend.

Awkwardness and Opportunities
Nathan and I went out for breakfast the next morning; it was a little awkward...Which is weird for us, we have never really had any uncomfortable silences before, it was definitely the sex issue!
“Ok, so this is weird right? Like awkward weird?” I asked.
“Yeah, a little.” He laughed.
“I am sorry about last night, I didn’t mean for it to be like such a big issue, but it suddenly is.”
“Don’t apologise. Please I...I just don’t want you to regret anything that happens, and you said you weren’t ready, and last night it felt like you were ready but I didn’t want to do anything in case it was just the alcohol, not that you were drunk or stupid-.” He was talking very fast, he looked so nervous and cute.
I cut him off, “It wasn’t the alcohol. I am ready and I have been for ages, I still felt a little weird about all the drama when I said I wasn’t ready...” I smiled.
“I was hoping you would say that.” He smiled.
Awkward silence
“Ok we are NOT planning it though, cause that’s just stupid...Will just let it happen, deal?” I asked.
“Deal.” Nathan smiled.
“Alright well I have to go to; I can’t be late to work.” I got up and kissed him on the cheek, he pulled me back and kissed me again, he is so sweet.

About 12.30 I got called into Minnie’s office, with Zoe. I knew something fishy was going on when I walked in, they were both quiet but excitement filled the air.
“Paris, sit down will you? I called you in here today because I have an offer for you. Yasmine is leaving, she is pregnant. So Zoe is going to move into her position as features editor and I am asking you to move up to the beauty department. Of course being so new, Zoe has agreed to help you for the first three months. And if we don’t think you’re ready to go alone, we will bring someone in from the outside to do the job.” Minnie finished and my mouth was set wide open!
“Are you serious? I haven’t even been working here two months yet! Thank you so much for this opportunity.”
“You know I have always liked you Paris, not many others would have an opportunity like this.” Minnie smiled.
“I know thank you so much! I promise you can count on me!” I was virtually floating on air, I didn’t expect to be give a chance like this is soon!
Zoe and I calmly left the office, and then did a silent happy dance outside Minnie’s door; we heard her chuckle softly before saying “Back to work ladies!”

Dinner?
I told Audrey all about my Nate drama; she listened like a friend and promised that she wouldn’t write a story about it until the news broke officially (then it was fair game) and she wouldn’t mention anything about the fake relationship or that Nathan and I technically started dating before the ‘announcement’.
“Hey Paris you really like him don’t you?”
“Yeah I think that I do” I smiled
On Monday I was waiting for a phone call from him, I knew that he would probably wait until I finished work but I kept checking my phone and nothing. I couldn’t concentrate on work at all; Zoe noticed and decided to take me to lunch to get my mind off Nathan.
“How’s Halley going?” I asked knowing the answer.
“Horrible, seriously Paris I honestly don’t know what to do with her. I don’t really want to talk to Minnie I don’t think I could ever get anyone fired...”
“You know I am not the biggest fan of Hally, but she isn’t doing her job properly, Minnie got you an assistant to ease your work load not to make it bigger...”
“I know I am going to have a chat with her when we get back and give her a chance.”
“Great, well at least you have a plan.”
We spent the rest of lunch chatting about everything, work and the new celebrity interview we are trying to get and my mum and Ray who are leaving for Europe today, and her parents (she doesn’t get along to well with them, they hated that she went into journalism, they wanted her to be a lawyer), her brother and her sisters (all who she is very close with).
We got back to the office about an hour later, but Minnie told me to just go home. She said I had worked really hard the last few weeks and deserved an afternoon off that would have been awesome if Nathan had called me...
I went to the gym, brought some groceries, I cleaned the apartment, cooked dinner, and cleaned out my wardrobe all before 5pm. At exactly 5 Nathans name lit up my caller id.
“Hey Nate.” I tried sounding cool but I sounded so excited which is how I felt.
“Hey, I thought you’d still be at work I was going to leave a voicemail.” He sound sounding suprised.
“No, I actually got the afternoon off!”
“Oh really? You should have called me we could have gone out.” He sounded a little disappointed.
“Well if I called you it would have looked a little desperate!” I laughed.
“I was trying to play it cool too, I have been awake since 7am just waiting for 5 o’clock,” he said laughing.
“Well that’s a bit cute.” I said smiling.
“So did you want to go dinner tonight?”
“Well you know a lady isn’t supposed to accept a date so late...” I said coyly.
“But that’s why I like you, you’re not afraid to break the rules.”
“Ok fine, just this once.”
“Well how about I cook you dinner at my place? I’ll text you the address is 7 ok?”
“7 sounds perfect!”
“Hey Paris you really like him don’t you?”
“Yeah I think that I do” I smiled

You Got Some Explain' To Do
I was in a funk; after my great night turned to disaster I was mad at everyone especially Nathan. I hadn’t spoken to him in a week, not from a lack of trying on his behalf. I had many calls, texts, facebook messages and emails (did people really still email...Apparently they did).
My work however was not suffering; I had busted out story after story about break-ups, betrayal and bad boys, I am not really sure that I did actually break-up with Nathan because it was only two weeks but it still stung.
Minnie was impressed with the amount of work I was putting in; I even got a one published which is really rare as an editor’s assistant.
The phone rang for about the 100th time that morning, I bet it was Nathan again!!! This was getting ridiculous!
“Good morning Radiance magazine. This is Paris.”
“Paris, don’t hang up. Just listen.”
“I am at work Nathan I don’t have time for this...”
“Fine, I’ll meet you after work I’ll be waiting in the lobby for you.” He said nervously.
“Nathan, NO.” I was trying to keep a low voice but it started to rise, it was too late anyway he had already hang up.
I worked a little later on purpose; I wanted to make him nervous. I made my way down the elevator, I saw him standing at the entrance pacing. My heart immediately started beating a 100 times faster.
“Hey Paris.” he went in for a kiss and immediately realised that was inappropriate and stumbled, needless to say it was a very awkward beginning.
“Hello.” It seems I was the queen of being Icy around him.
“Did you want to go for dinner or coffee or something?”
“Yeah, ok coffee sound fine”
We went to coffee; it was obvious he wanted to start explaining but was waiting for the right moment. He began to talk, and was immediately interrupted by the waitress.
“Hey your Nathan Luken, can I have a picture?” she was giggling like an idiot.
He shot me an apologetic look, “Yeah, sure.” She attempted to make small talk about his team, where his first game was and why wasn’t he captain yet because he totally LIKE deserved it. Nathan answered all her questions politely, but it was obvious he was uncomfortable.
“So what about your girlfriend you guys still together?” she said while eyeing me.
I couldn’t take it anymore; I chucked 5 bucks on the table to pay for my coffee and I walked out. I knew I might be being childlike but I didn’t care, I was jealous and couldn’t stand to hear about his stupid girlfriend or whatever the hell she was...
“Paris, wait come on hold up!” He was doing a sexy half jog my heart leapt again.
“What? Nathan just tell me what you want to say!” I was agitated and envious and I needed to get out of there.
“Uh, I...Umm l really don’t know what to say, Katie called me begging to have dinner with her, she said she hadn’t seen me in ages and I was still her boyfriend for the media purposes and she just wanted to catch up...”
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” I was pleading with him now, so embarrassing we haven’t even made it official yet...
“I don’t know I thought you might be upset, we were having so much fun and I just didn’t want you to think I was being shady, which I realise now is stupid.”
“Look I am going to be honest with I am not one to go after someone else’s boyfriend, even if it’s just to help her out...Obviously she still wants something from you and I don’t want to be THAT girl...” He immediately looked sad, and my heart broke a little, because I had pretty much told this almost perfect guy I couldn’t be with him until he sorted his shit out.
“I respect that, and I am going to fix this mess, it’s gone on too long, I mean I was happy to pretend when it wasn’t affecting me but now it’s getting in the way of my life.” He blushed and was obviously thinking about the almost sex that occurred between us.
“Well I guess call me when you figure it all out, because I really like you but I just don’t like the drama...”
With that I kissed him on the cheek and walked home...I really hope I was making the right decision.

Radiance?
My heals made that familiar clunk, clunk, clunk against the tiles from the entrance of Radiance.
I am sooooo excited to be starting my brand new job. Even though I'm starting at the VERY bottom...I interned at Radiance for 3 months through University, and I have a degree in Journalism and one day I hope to be the editor of Radiance.
Anyway I am the assistant for the assistant for the editor of the magazine, pathetic I know BUT everyone has to start somewhere.
As I was navigating my through the halls, I banged into to him, and by him I mean Nathan Luken. I remembered his face from the numerous newspaper articles; he was a football player and a very good looking one at that.
His smile was breath taking, with his perfect blue eyes, and his muscular body, he only had one imperfection on his face a small scar above his eye (which if I am begin honest only added to his charm). Nathan was easily the hottest guy I had ever seen.
“I’m so sorry, I am really late I didn’t even see you.”
“Don’t worry about it, I am Nathan” he said coolly while picking up the contents of my Gucci handbag (knock off).
“I’m sorry again Nathan.” I said while running away.
While I was turning the corner I heard “Hey I didn’t even catch your name.”
“Its Paris, my name is Paris”, I heard him chuckle behind me.
“Good morning Minnie, would you like a coffee of some breakfast?”
“Oh hello Paris, first day as an official member of staff?”
“Yes, thank you so much for taking a chance on me.”I smiled.
“Paris I know talent when I see it, and unfortunately you have to start at the bottom like everybody else, but you’re going to be very big in this industry."
“Thank you again Minnie for your confidence in me”
Minnie was the editor of Radiance; she was lovely and had definitely taken a liking to me. On my second week of interning with Radiance, I handed her a story something like “50 ways to please YOURSELF” and she loved it, she said it was a refreshing outlook.
Minnie had massive eyes and a big smile; she was tiny and easily fitted into the sample sizes that we often got from designers all over the world. Minnie was fairly easy going, but when it came to the magazine she was deadly serious. The week before deadline was madness here, but that’s what I love about this place.
“PARIS, can you please call Nathan Luken’s publicist and let him we want him in the October issue, and book a date for the photo shoot and interview please.”
“No problem Minnie,”
Little did I know that little interview would change my life, in a very extreme way.
